The Bible has a lot to say about the dangers of alcohol. The abuse of alcohol can lead to addiction, health problems, legal trouble, strife and can destroy marriages and other relationships. That is why we are instructed in Ephesians 5:18 (NLT), “Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
While Scripture does not clearly forbid the consumption of alcohol, it does make very clear that drunkenness is sin. Additionally, we are called to be mindful of the weaknesses of those around us, and not cause them to stumble through our own behavior (Romans 14:21). We have a responsibility, as believers, to be examples of godly behavior and holy living and while some things are permissible, not everything is beneficial (1 Corinthians 10:23).
At KCM, we believe it is wise for a believer to abstain from alcohol completely.
