In reference to studying the Bible, we would like to share one way Brother Copeland studies the Bible. He sets aside a time in his schedule to study a particular subject or scripture(s) he would like to understand more clearly. He treats this time like an appointment he cannot miss. At the onset of this time, he asks the Holy Spirit to reveal Himself through the scripture. He then reads what the scripture says and meditates on it.
When you meditate on the scripture, read and think about each word. Using a good dictionary and concordance, you can also study the Greek and Hebrew meanings. Then pray for understanding and discernment of that scripture. We recommend using Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, Young’s Analytical Concordance and Vine’s Expository Dictionary as excellent reference works that are easy to use and can greatly enhance your Bible study time. Study tools like this can also be found online at BibleStudyTools.com and BibleGateway.com.
We also recommend Dake’s Annotated Reference Bible. This study Bible is one of the most comprehensive, exhaustive study Bibles available today. For further information you may contact their company at dake.com.
You may also find the Spirit-Filled Life Study Bible, published by Nelson, and the Life Application Study Bible, published by Zondervan, helpful in your studies. The Amplified Bible is another excellent resource in understanding the clear meaning of God’s Word. All these resources are available at most bookstores.
Remember: The Holy Spirit is available to be your teacher. So ask Him to reveal to you what resources would be of most benefit to your studies. You can receive a lot of revelation on the Scripture with simply a good concordance and dictionary.
