Oh, the all-too-familiar piercing Beep! and then sudden darkness as the power goes out. Power outages can bring your home, business, schedule and overall energy-driven lifestyle to a standstill.
So imagine: What was it like when Jesus was crucified and all that supernatural power that had so gloriously flowed through Him suddenly came to a stop? The Bible says the sun went dark for three hours (Matthew 27:45). All hope seemed lost. Three days later, however, that resurrection power was restored as Jesus came out of the tomb (Matthew 28:5-6). Once again, mankind was back online with its Creator—this time, like never before!
Today, thankfully, any loss of supernatural power in your life is never an issue with your “Service Provider” (God). The glitch is downline. You wrestle not against flesh and blood but against spiritual powers and authorities—evil spirits in a dark world (Ephesians 6:12). It’s Satan who’s trying to take out your supernature power grid—but you do get a say in the matter.
According to Ephesians 6, you can take your stand against all the strategies of the devil and Put On Your Armor and Access Resurrection Power in your life!
1. The Belt of Truth: “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). Walking in the truth of God’s Word will keep you strong and free.
2. The Breastplate of Righteousness: “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:21). Knowing that you are right with God through Jesus is protection for your heart.
3. The Shoes of Peace: Like a good pair of shoes, peace keeps you firm-footed. Jesus said, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid” (John 14:27).
4. The Shield of Faith: Faith is a force field of protection that stops the fiery arrows of the devil. Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (NKJV).
5. The Helmet of Salvation: When you were born again and gave your life to Christ, you were transferred out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of God. Your salvation includes being complete—nothing missing, nothing broken—in Christ. “And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power” (Colossians 2:10, NKJV).
6. The Sword of the Spirit: The Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, “is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires” (Hebrews 4:12).
7. Prayer at All Times: Though not a piece of armor, continual prayer keeps the lines of communication between you and God open so you can hear clearly from Him. “Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18).
You are instructed to “put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm” (Ephesians 6:13).
