10 Confessions for Peace In Your Family

What are some Christmas traditions your family enjoys? Many families have a favorite Christmas movie they watch together. And many Christmas movies highlight the joys of the season—delicious holiday cookies and pies, gift-giving and special events focused on the birth of our Savior—as well as harmonious families that never disagree.

The reality is that at Christmas you often see family members you haven’t seen in a while, and although that can be special, it can also be stressful. Often, the family discussions can bring disagreement. Before you let your own frustration get the best of you, consider these 10 Confessions for Peace In Your Family that you can speak over your family members, giving God access to work mightily in their lives.

  1. For salvation: I pray for ______ and ask You, God, to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, from the power of Satan to the power of God (Acts 26:18). I ask You to send laborers across their path, just the right laborers they will listen to (Matthew 9:37-38). Thank You, Lord, that my whole household and I are saved (Acts 16:31).
  2. For spiritual growth: In the Name of Jesus, I pray for ______ and ask You, God, the glorious Father our Lord Jesus Christ, to give them spiritual wisdom and insight so that they might grow in their knowledge of You. I pray that their heart will be flooded with light so that they can understand the hope You have given to those You called. I also pray they will understand the incredible greatness of Your power (Ephesians 1:17-19).
  3. For God’s love: ______ is strengthened with might in their inner man through God’s Spirit. Christ makes His home in their heart and their roots grow down into God’s love. May they have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high and how deep God’s love is. May they experience the love of Christ so they are made complete with all the fullness of life and power from God (Ephesians 3:16-19).
  4. For overcoming difficulties: No weapon formed against ______ shall prosper. Every tongue that rises against them in judgment they shall condemn. Their righteousness is of the Lord (Isaiah 54:17, NKJV).
  5. For overcoming lack: ______ delights in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do (Psalm 1:1-3).
  6. For overcoming fear: For God has not given ______ a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). They have the mind of Christ and hold the thoughts, feelings and purposes of His heart (1 Corinthians 2:16, AMPC).
  7. For overcoming anxious thoughts: I pray for ______, that they are not anxious about anything, but in prayer and with thanksgiving, they make known their requests to the Lord, and the peace that surpasses all understanding guards their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. They think on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely and worthy of praise (Philippians 4:6-8).
  8. For favor: For You, Lord, bless the righteous. You surround ______ with favor as with a shield (Psalm 5:12, NKJV). You give them favor in all their relationships. They have favor with God and man (Luke 2:52).
  9. For protection: ______ dwells in the secret place of the Most High. They hide in the shadow of the Almighty. God is their refuge and fortress; He is their God in whom they trust. A thousand may fall at their side, and 10,000 at their right hand, but it shall not come near them (Psalm 91).
  10. For trusting God: ______ trusts in the Lord with all their heart and leans not on their own understanding. In all their ways they acknowledge God, and He directs their steps (Proverbs 3:5-6, NKJV). God’s goodness and mercy follow them all the days of their life, and they dwell in the house of the Lord forever (Psalm 23:6, NKJV).
