As we go through the busyness of life, we have a lot of expectations: We expect phone calls, packages at our front doors, for our kids to go to school, and for them to come home at the end of the day. We expect to commute to work, do our jobs with excellence, and manage dinner. On especially good days, we expect paychecks, birthdays, holidays, presents and maybe company for dinner.
No matter what, every day we wake up and live our day, expecting something or someone. And in most of those moments of anticipation, we don’t just sit around and wait. No, we’re usually busy doing something to prepare for what we expect, whether it's allowing a little extra time for the commute to work or shopping online for gift ideas.
When it comes to your faith journey, what are you believing for? Better yet, how are you preparing for what you expect to happen?
The Word teaches us that faith acts. Faith steps out and does something based on what it expects to happen (Hebrews 11:1, 4-35). The Apostle James challenges us with this revelation about faith: “Faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead)” (James 2:17, AMPC).
To help you develop your faith, here are 20 Faith-Building Confessions that can be the next action step you take that bring your faith to life and ensures you get the results you need—and want—to happen:
- The Lord is my Shepherd; therefore I have everything I need (Psalm 23:1).
- Every sin, sickness, disease, sorrow, and grief was laid on Jesus; therefore I am free from all those things. I walk in divine health and joy all the days of my life (Isaiah 53:3-5).
- I have no worries in this life because I seek God’s kingdom above all else. I know my Father loves me. I live righteously by faith in Him, and He gives me everything I need (Matthew 6:31-34).
- Because I am a Covenant believer in Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whatever I forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever I permit on earth will be permitted in heaven (Matthew 18:18).
- I have faith in God. I have the faith of God. I can pray for anything, and because I believe I receive when I pray, it will be mine (Mark 11:22-24).
- I am a generous giver. When I give, my gift returns to me in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into my lap (Luke 6:38).
- Because I believe in Jesus, I can do the same works He did—and even greater—because He went to be with the Father; and now His mighty Spirit lives in me. (John 14:12).
- I can ask my heavenly Father directly for whatever I need or desire that’s in line with His Word, and He will grant my request because Jesus said, “Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy” (John 16:23-24).
- God has united me with Jesus—who has made me pure, holy and free from sin. I have His wisdom, His right standing with the Father, and by His blood, He has made me free from sin (1 Corinthians 1:30).
- I live by believing what God says and not by seeing (2 Corinthians 5:7).
- I am a generous and cheerful giver, and God generously provides all I need (2 Corinthians 9:6-8).
- God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that I can ask or think, according to the power of His Spirit who is at work within me (Ephesians 3:20, NKJV).
- Now that I belong to Christ, I am a true child of Abraham and an heir of God’s promise of blessing to him (Galatians 3:29).
- I am God’s masterpiece, created anew in Christ Jesus and able to do all the good things He planned for me long ago (Ephesians 2:10).
- Jesus sits in the highest place of honor with God, and I am united with Him, so I am seated with Him in heavenly places. I walk in victory because I am seated together with the One who has the Name above all other names. (Philippians 2:9-11; Ephesians 2:6).
- I belong to God, and Jesus is the Apostle and High Priest of my confession of faith as I speak His mighty Word in victory over every situation in my life (Hebrews 3:1, NKJV).
- Faith comes from hearing the Word of God. I have strong faith. I’m a believer and not a doubter (Romans 10:17, NKJV).
- I don’t have to worry about a thing because my heavenly Father cares for me. I give all my worries and cares to Him (1 Peter 5:7).
- I can go to my heavenly Father with bold confidence and receive whatever I ask from Him because I obey Him and do the things that please Him (1 John 3:21-22).
- I am confident that God hears me whenever I ask for anything that pleases Him; and since I know He hears me, I know He will give me what I ask for. My heavenly Father loves me and wants to bless me (1 John 5:14-15).
