How should I evangelize to people around me?
Most people want to bring people to the Lord, but fear and intimidation keep them from knowing where to even start. We are each called to be salt and light in the world—even if it’s a bit uncomfortable at times! What materials would help my personal Bible study?
In reference to studying the Bible, we would like to share one way Brother Copeland studies the Bible. He sets aside a time in his schedule to study a particular subject or scripture(s) he would like to understand more clearly. He treats this time like an appointment he cannot miss. At the onset of this time, he asks the Holy Spirit to reveal Himself through the scripture. He then reads what the scripture says and meditates on it.
Would it be wrong to pray to leave this world?
With the pressures and pain that can come in this earthly life, we can sometimes think it might be better to leave this world and go home to be with the Lord. Paul shares his feelings in Philippians 1:21, “For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.” He goes on to say, however, “But if I live, I can do more fruitful work for Christ. So I really don’t know which is better. I’m torn between two desires: I long to go and be with Christ, which would be far better for me. But for your sakes, it is better that I continue to live.” (verses 22-24).
Does God allow Satan to afflict people?
God will permit only what we permit. He has given us the right to choose—life or death, blessing or cursing (Deuteronomy 30:19). When God created man He created him in the image and likeness of God. Adam walked and talked with God and knew Him. God never required him to be sick to know Him. Adam never experienced sickness until he changed gods. Adam was the one who made the decision to disobey. He was not forced—he made the decision on his own.
How can I know the truth when ministers disagree?
